Surya Tamang (born 30 September 2001) is a Nepalese cricketer[1] who plays as a left arm off-spin bowler. He has played in different leagues including NepalT20, EPL,Dhangadhi Premier League for different teams like Biratnagar Super Kings, Lalitpur Patriots, Armed Police Force, Kathmandu Golden Warriors & Rapti team in Gautam Buddha Cup 2020. He had also been a part of Under-19s in 2018 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup and 2019 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup. In 2022, Tamang was adjudged as emerging player of the tournament in the inaugural Nepal T20 League. Soon, he got the maiden call up for the National team for the home Tri-Series[2] against Namibia and Scotland under CWC League 2 in February 2023. He was adjudged Player of the Tournament in 2024 Prime Minister Cup where he took a record 30 wickets in 9 matches representing Bagmati Province cricket team. Tamang became the 38th player to represent Nepal national cricket team in ODI when he made his debut against the Canada.[3]
Currently, He plays for Bagmati Province in the Prime Minister One Day Cup.[4][5]
International career
[edit]In February 2024, he was named in Nepal's squad for their One Day International (ODI) series against the Canada and League 2 game against Netherlands and Namibia.[6]
